Chimney Peak Ranch is located approximately seven miles Northeast of the historic community of
Ridgway, Colorado. Established over 100 years ago, Ridgway was first known as a railhead center servicing the nearby
mining towns of Ouray and Telluride. Later, its scenic location and historical structures were used in a number of
Western movies, including How the West Was Won and True Grit. Today, Ridgway is known as "The Gateway to the San Juans..."
aptly named for its location as the northernmost entrance to the scenic San Juan Skyway, one of the most dramatic and beautiful
mountain drives in North America.
Ridgway, the closest town to Chimney Peak Ranch, offers convenient access for day-to-day
supplies and services, as well as a number of restaurants, shops, galleries. At an elevation of 6,985 feet, Ridgway
enjoys an exceptionally mild and sunny alpine climate and boasts a nationally recognized, 18-hole championship golf course.
The community is also home to one of Colorado's finest recreation sites, Ridgway State Park. Local residents and visitors
alike enjoy an abundance of activities at the park, including fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, biking, and camping.

Seventeen miles South of the Ranch lies the historic City of Ouray. Also known as "The Switzerland of America," Ouray is famous for its mining heritage, historic charm, and exceptional scenic beauty. Nestled in a tiny valley and surrounded by steep mountains, Ouray was founded in 1876 and named after the Ute Indian Chief that originally presided over the area. Soon thereafter, Ouray became a bustling mining community, home to those in search of gold and silver. Many of the buildings that were constructed during the late 1800's are still standing today, thus the city's designation as a National Historic District.
In addition to its mining heritage, Ouray is a popular base from which visitors enjoy year-round alpine activities - taking in the nearby Box Canyon and Cascade waterfalls, jeep tours, spectacular fall colors, historical walking tours, and the Million Dollar Highway, the world-famous mountain drive between Ouray and Silverton.
One of Ouray's most outstanding attractions is the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. Constructed in 1926, the 250' x 150' pool is filled with hot, mineral-rich waters, piped in from several natural springs. Thousands travel to Ouray each year to enjoy these waters, just as the Utes did over a century ago.

Chimney Peak Ranch is approximately 45 minutes from the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village - a four-season, five-star resort community best know for its world-class skiing and year-round cultural events. These neighboring towns offer a unique combination of old and new, all set in area of extraordinary scenic beauty.
Telluride, founded as a mining camp in the late 1800's, is now home to one of the most significant ski resorts in the world. With over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain, an average snowfall of 325 inches, and some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in North America, Telluride has become a destination of choice for skiers from around the globe.
The community is also host to a number of internationally known cultural events, including festivals celebrating film making, jazz, bluegrass, art, theatre, and wine making. Visitors also enjoy Telluride's wide array of shops, restaurants, galleries, Victorian architecture, year-round recreational activities, and western hospitality.
Just minutes away, via Telluride's famous Gondola transportation system, is Mountain Village, an elegant and exclusive alpine community. Incorporated in 1995, Mountain Village is now known as one the richest communities in the United States, offering exclusive shops and lodging, fine dining, and America's highest 18-hole championship golf course. Recently, a state-of-the-art, 23,000 sq. ft. conference facility was built and is host to business, cultural, and social events year-round.
Five miles West of Telluride and Mountain Village, residents and visitors enjoy the convenience of Telluride Regional Airport, North America's highest at an elevation of 9,078 ft. above sea level. The airport offers regularly scheduled flights to and from Denver and Phoenix, along with a full range of support services for private and commercial aircraft.

Strategically located in the center of the Uncompahgre Valley, Montrose is just 31 miles from Chimney Peak Ranch and serves as the region's transportation crossroads. The intersection of U.S. Highways 550 and 50 (within the city) and the nearby commercial jet airport have made Montrose the hub for most major attractions in Southwest Colorado. The airport is served by major commercial airlines and also offers a full range of support services for private aircraft.
Montrose features a wide range of shopping and dining options, an indoor/outdoor aquatic center, and an attractive 18-hole golf course.
